Southern Fulfillment Services Acquires Texas Pittman & Davis
After an approximately 10-month search, food and gift cataloger Pittman & Davis has been sold to holding company Southern Fulfillment Services LLC. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The buy will enable Southern Fulfillment Services to expand geographically into Texas, and diversify its operations and cross-marketing tactics, according to a company release.
Financial services firm GW Equity assisted Pittman & Davis throughout its search for a buyer. Though representatives for neither Harlingen, TX-based Pittman & Davis nor Vero Beach, FL-based Southern Fulfillment Services commented by press time, Brenen Hofstadter, the GW Equity managing director who worked on the sale, said that no changes are expected when Southern Fulfillment Services, publisher of the Hale Groves catalog, takes over the Pittman & Davis business.
“The buyer intends fully to continue to market the catalog as a standalone brand and keep all the management,” Hofstadter said.
He referenced a press release in which Don Wright, president of Southern Fulfillment Services, said, “Pittman & Davis is a well-run organization and we are happy to welcome their employee and management team to our group.”
Pittman & Davis opened in 1926 and supplies fresh fruit, smoked meats, cheeses, pastries, candies and other gift food items. Southern Fulfillment Services’ Hale Groves catalog sells fruits, nuts, baked goods, candies, nuts and snacks and, per its Web site, has been around for about 50 years.
